SARS VAT and eFiling obligations are met from standard Odoo accounting configuration β VAT is tracked per transaction so the return is assembled from the ledger rather than a spreadsheet.

What changes the price of an Odoo project
Six things move an Odoo quote. None of them are a surprise, and all of them are discussed before you sign.
Which packages you take
Each package is priced independently. Core ERP Implementation is ZAR 14,300 ($897.00 USD), CRM is ZAR 11,100 ($697.00 USD), Payroll implementation is ZAR 6,150 ($384.00 USD), and Fiscalization licensing is ZAR 480 ($30.00 USD) per month. Take one, or combine them β combined engagements are quoted together so training and implementation hours are not billed twice.
Basic scope versus Custom scope
Basic is fixed-price and fixed-scope: proven Odoo configuration, the stated hours, go-live. The moment you need custom development, extended reporting, bespoke workflows or a complex legacy migration, the engagement moves to Custom and is quoted after discovery against the hours actually required.
Odoo user licensing
Licensing is paid directly to Odoo, not to us, and is not included in any package price. Odoo Enterprise licensing starts from $13.60 per user per month, though the exact figure depends on your user count, edition, apps, region and current Odoo promotions β Odoo prices by geography rather than one global rate. Odoo Community is free to licence. We will size this with you before you commit.
Deployment and hosting
Self-hosted and Odoo SaaS deployment are both covered by the Basic package price. Odoo.sh sits in Custom because it involves staging branches, source control and a bespoke deployment pipeline. Hosting costs, wherever you land, are billed separately from implementation.
Data migration complexity
A structured upload of customers, suppliers, products and opening balances is included in Basic. Pulling fifteen years of transactions out of a legacy system with no clean export is Custom work, and we scope it honestly before quoting. This is the single most common reason a South African project moves from Basic to Custom.
SARS compliance and localisation
SARS VAT and eFiling obligations are met from standard Odoo accounting configuration β VAT is tracked per transaction so the return is assembled from the ledger rather than a spreadsheet.
What your Odoo build has to handle in South Africa
These are configured as part of a standard implementation, not billed as extras.
- SARS VAT tracking and eFiling-ready reporting
- POPIA-conscious handling of customer and employee data
- Multi-branch retail and warehouse operations
- Cross-border SADC trade and multi-currency invoicing
Odoo pricing in South Africa, answered
How much does Odoo cost in South Africa?
There are two separate costs and it is worth keeping them apart, because most quotes you will see online blur them together. The first is implementation β the work of configuring Odoo to run your business β and that is what we charge for. Our Core ERP Implementation package is a fixed ZAR 14,300 ($897.00 USD) one-off, covering Sales, Inventory, Purchase, Accounting and Point of Sale, standard Odoo reporting, a basic data migration, and 10 training hours plus 10 implementation hours. CRM is ZAR 11,100 ($697.00 USD), Payroll implementation is ZAR 6,150 ($384.00 USD), and Fiscalization licensing is ZAR 480 ($30.00 USD) per month. The second cost is Odoo software licensing, which you pay directly to Odoo rather than to us. Odoo Enterprise licensing starts from $13.60 per user per month, and the exact number depends on your user count, edition, chosen apps, region and whatever promotion Odoo is running. Odoo Community carries no licence fee at all. Hosting is a third, smaller line β self-hosted or Odoo SaaS, billed separately. So a South Africa business taking Core ERP on the Basic package pays us ZAR 14,300 ($897.00 USD) once, then Odoo directly for licences, then hosting. Nothing else is added without written approval. Local amounts are converted at ZAR 15.99 to the US dollar as at 8 September 2026; quotes and contracts are denominated in USD.
Is the ZAR 14,300 ($897.00 USD) implementation price really fixed for South Africa businesses?
Yes. The Basic package price is fixed and the scope is fixed with it β that is the point of the package. You get proven Odoo configuration across the listed modules, the stated training and implementation hours, and go-live. We do not discover mid-project that the price has moved. What changes the number is you deciding you need something Basic does not cover: custom development, extended or bespoke reporting, custom workflows, Odoo.sh deployment, or a complex migration out of a legacy system with no clean export. Those move the engagement to Custom, and Custom is scoped rather than fixed β we run a discovery session, document your processes and integrations, then quote against the hours actually required. You see the scope and the number before anything is signed. If you run past the Basic hours, additional hours are quoted upfront at our standard rate and no further work continues until you approve them in writing. We price the same way in South Africa as everywhere else we operate; there is no local premium and no local discount.
Does the price include SARS compliance?
SARS VAT and eFiling obligations are met from standard Odoo accounting configuration β VAT is tracked per transaction so the return is assembled from the ledger rather than a spreadsheet. Standard tax configuration β tax codes, per-transaction tax tracking, and reporting that assembles your return from the ledger rather than from a spreadsheet β is part of the Basic Core ERP Implementation at ZAR 14,300 ($897.00 USD). Fiscalization licensing is a ZAR 480 ($30.00 USD) per month subscription, and applies where your invoicing has to meet a revenue-authority document standard. Where South African Revenue Service requires something genuinely bespoke, such as a custom fiscal document template specific to your industry or document flow, that sits in the Custom package and is scoped before it is quoted. We keep the standard compliant templates current as the rules change; that upkeep is what the monthly Fiscalization subscription pays for. It is worth being blunt about one thing: compliance configuration is not the same as tax advice. We build the system to produce what SARS asks for. Your accountant or tax practitioner still signs off on the returns.
What is not included in the package price?
Four things, and we would rather you knew them upfront than discovered them on an invoice. First, Odoo software licensing β paid directly to Odoo, sized by user count, edition and apps. Second, hosting, whether that is your own infrastructure, Odoo SaaS or Odoo.sh. Third, Payroll licensing, which is charged per employee on its own pricing brackets and sits separately from the ZAR 6,150 ($384.00 USD) Payroll implementation fee. Fourth, any ongoing support retainer after the implementation engagement closes β the Basic package covers configuration, the stated hours and go-live, not an open-ended support commitment. Everything inside the package is listed explicitly on our pricing page, and everything marked Custom-only in the matrix is exactly what will push a South Africa project past the Basic price. We would rather quote you accurately and win the work than quote you low and renegotiate at go-live.
How long does an Odoo implementation take in South Africa?
A Basic Core ERP Implementation is built around 10 implementation hours and 10 training hours, and most South Africa businesses go live within a few weeks of handing over clean data. The variable is almost never Odoo β it is how quickly your side can supply a usable export of customers, suppliers, products and opening balances, and how quickly your team can sit for training. Where projects slip, it is usually because the legacy data needs cleaning before it can be loaded, which is also the point at which a Basic engagement often becomes a Custom one. Custom engagements are longer by definition, because they include discovery, development and testing cycles, and we give you a timeline alongside the quote rather than a vague range. We serve South Africa remotely from our regional offices, with on-site visits arranged by project. Support runs by phone, WhatsApp, email and video call throughout, and you can reach the team on +27 87 07 82 478.
